Hygienists are specially trained in preventive oral health, and assess, treat and monitor your dental hygiene.
In the past dentists would do a clean and polish as part of a routine check-up, however our hygienists can offer a thorough and comprehensive oral health treatment.
Studies have shown that good oral hygiene plays a role in overall health. Researchers have found that people who have periodontal (gum) disease have in increased risk of stroke, heart attack, and diabetes. The same harmful bacteria found in the mouth have been found in arterial plaques that cause heart disease.
To maintain healthy teeth and gums, it is recommended you visit us twice a year.
Our appointments range between 45 - 55 minutes depending on the amount of treatment required. Treatment involves the careful removal of deposits that build up on the teeth (plaque and calculus or tartar) which will help to slow the progress of gum disease. We also offer education in how to keep on top of your oral health to prevent periodontal disease.
Having a dentist and hygienist in the same premises offers a range of benefits that enhance the overall experience when visiting us. One key advantage is convenience. With both in the same location, you can schedule a dental check-up and hygiene visit back-to-back, saving time and minimizing the need for multiple appointments at different locations. This streamlined approach ensures a more efficient and hassle-free visit. Furthermore, the close collaboration between Phil and our hygienists promotes seamless communication and coordination of your care. They can diagnose issues, prescribe medication, discuss treatment plans, and address any concerns or questions together.
